Building Community Through KnoWLedge & Skill Sharing

Lili Trenkova Design shares subject matter expertise in the fields of sustainability, permaculture, human health and wellness, and accessibility, i.e. the “People” and “Planet” buckets of the triple bottom line definition.

Planet

  • Green building design
  • Sustainable interiors
  • Permaculture design and practice

People

  • Inclusive Design
  • Physical accessibility
  • Digital accessibility
  • Human health and wellness in the built environment

Services

There are various ways to engage Lili Trenkova Design, whether for single or ongoing projects. Services include but are not limited to:

Presentation

Whether a one-time occurrence or a series of events, in-person or virtual.

Workshop

A solution-oriented, interactive learning event that combines elements of presentation with active participation by attendees.

Strategy

A longer-term engagement that starts with a review of current practices, working directly with you on setting goals, and outlining actionable steps you can take towards meeting them.

Change Management Support

Additional support throughout the process of applying the actionable steps outlined in the Strategy phase. This can include team training, progress tracking, and periodic reviews.

Areas of Expertise

01

Regenerative and Circular Systems Design

Rooted in the wisdom of Indigenous practices, regenerative systems design (also dubbed by some as “permaculture”) is about creating permanent and thriving systems that work and evolve sustainably. Circularity is a more recent term and refers to closed-loop systems, where outputs

Beyond design and production, these principles can be applied to how we build communities, how we learn and teach, and how we conduct business.

Example Deliverables and Measurable Value

Regenerative Systems Design Frameworks: site or project-specific strategies that integrate landscape, interior, and operational systems (water, energy, materials, etc.) We track outcome by measuring reduced resource inputs, biodiversity increase, or percentage of systems conversion into closed-loop.

Circularity Roadmaps & Material Strategies: actionable plans for reducing waste and specifying circular materials across projects and operations. We track outcome by measuring waste diversion rates, percentages of renewable materials used, lifecycle cost savings.

Change Management & Implementation Playbooks: stakeholder engagement plans, training modules, and phased rollout strategies to embed new practices. We track outcome by measuring adoption rates, staff training completion, process compliance, and the time rate of introduction to implementation.

Climate Resilience Assessment & Adaptation Plans: risk analyses (heat, flooding, storms, etc.) with design and operational responses within building, site, and community contexts. We track outcome by measuring reduced risk scores, downtime avoidance, insurance and operational cost mitigation, and resilience benchmarks met.

02

Inclusive Design and Accessibility

Good design should work for and adapt to everyone, all the time, regardless of their ability. While inclusivity is baked into all of Lili’s design work, this a deep-dive into it in a consulting capacity. From a one-time lecture to continuous change management support, we can work together  on improving your processes and creating equitable and usable environments that foster a universal sense of belonging.

Example Deliverables and Measurable Value

Experiential Design Innovation: Experiential Design is the field where innovation and inclusivity are truly synergistic. From choose-your-own-adventure programming to adaptive interfaces, experiential design is at the forefront of creating experiences of true inclusion and belonging. We track outcome by measuring user engagement, repeat visitation, and qualitative feedback from diverse user groups.

Inclusive Experience Design Guidelines: toolkits and standards for equitable, multimodal, and neuroinclusive environments across retail, hospitality, and exhibits. We track outcome by measuring increases in dwell time, improved wayfinding success rates, overall user satisfaction, and reduced friction points.

Digital Accessibility Implementation: design and content frameworks for accessible digital interfaces such as kiosks or bespoke installations. We track outcome by measuring user navigation success, error rate reductions, and conversion rate improvements.

Team Development and Training Programs: workshops and playbooks to embed inclusive design into workflow and culture. We track outcome by measuring training completion rates, adoption of inclusive practices, and cross-team collaboration success.

03

Human Health in the Built Environment

There is an ever-growing number of innovative strategies that help meet sustainability goals and enhance human well-being. Lili can provide actionable insights, customized to your setting, on how to use design to improve health, reduce environmental impact, and adapt seamlessly to future needs.

Example Deliverables and Measurable Value

Fitwel Certification: As a Fitwel Ambassador, Lili can guide you through the Fitwel certification process, from gap analyses to documentation. We track outcome by measuring certifications points and level achieved, timeline, and operational cost drivers.

Mobility & Access Enhancements: design solutions that encourage and improve physical movement, and reduce strain. We track outcome by measuring reduced incidents and strain reports, user ease of movement scores, and circulation activity.

Occupant Experience & Productivity Programs: spatial and operational strategies to enhance focus, comfort, and satisfaction. We track outcome by measuring productivity indicators, absenteeism reduction, retention, and other user experience metrics.

Biophilic & Wellness Design Integration: nature-based and sensory strategies embedded into interiors and landscapes. We track outcome by measuring occupant well-being and stress survey results, daylight and acoustic comfort levels, and indoor air quality.
