The Design Practice
Lili Trenkova Design approaches design with the premise that anything is possible, including that the end goal may change throughout the process. Lili strives to view obstacles as guiding parameters, rather than limitations, and to focus on what we can do vs. what we cannot. The magic of design is in its constant fluidity, both throughout the process and aftwerards. A design is never truly complete: even after it’s built, a house continues to change as it gets lived in, and a yard continues to evolve as the plants grow in it, each a unique, vibrant ecosystem to be loved an treasured. About Lili
Lili is a certified permaculture designer, a landscape designer, and interior designer with backgrounds as varied as theater, architecture, food service, and community organizing. The Lili Trenkova Design practice combines two decades of design experience (half of which designing for commercial retail environments) with a lifelong study of ecology. Born and raised in Sofia, Bulgaria, Lili lived and worked in NYC for many years and is now based in the Wallkill River watershed of Munsee Lenape land (a.k.a. Sussex County, NJ).

Professional experience
Theater Set Design
Lili holds a B.A. and M.F.A. in Set Design and has designed and built sets for many theater and puppetry productions throughout NYC.
Immersive and Experiential Design
While at Gensler, Lili led physical design scope and workflows for immersive digital media projects and their architectural integration.
Retail and Hospitality
Lili has 10+ years designing for retail, food & beverage, and hospitality: from full stores to bespoke fixture design and fabrication.
Event and Exhibit Design
From tension fabric pop-up structures to thematic curation and fabrication, Lili has worked on countless tradeshow and art events and exhibits.
Landscape Design
One of Lili’s main current focus is providing landscape design services utilizing regenerative practices that restore local ecosystems.
Interior Design
Lili works in many interior design styles but always centers accessibility, health, and sustainability to ensure the wellness of all residents.
